Tom Waits no conocía las viñas del Bierzo cuando estableció su
residencia en la Petaluma de California. Aun asi sigue siendo
considerado un hombre afortunado : Bad as me , tras siete años de
ausencia se nos presenta como un autentico manjar de la casa para
degustar con esta minería esquisita que ha sabido apreciar esos
diamantes que prefirieron quedarse como el carbon.

Por qué será que siempre que pienso en Tom Waits me imagino una ultima y diminuta taberna donde se refugia todo lo que nos queda de aquella generacion beat de Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg y Williams S. Burroughts y todo el imaginario musical celeste de Fats Waller, Oscar Levant, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Kurt Weill, Howlin’ Wolf, Thelonius Monk,Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Captain Beefheart, Louis Armstrong … sin embargo, de él, como de cualquiera, es mejor no fiarse: Nunca dije la verdad.
